Hi Dover School Ski Folk,

I hope everyone is getting excited about skiing! The kids' ski passes should be in the mail to you this week (PLEASE send forms to Mt. Snow if you haven't, get gear worked out, etc. ;->>), the mountain is getting snowy, and January will be here before we know it...

A great opportunity to get in the mood is coming up a week from Thursdayon 12/15 -- Jaime Alvarez (Skyler's mom) has been amazing in bringing a "Backcountry Film Festival" fundraiser to the Snow Barn. This event will raise scholarship funds for the ski program. We were able to help many families this year and now it's time to re-fill the kitty for next year!

But the skinny is: pay $10 at the door (all door proceeds go to the scholarship fund!), and then hang out, order half price pizza for you and the kiddos, and watch the show -- pilots from 7 Backcountry films that will be released in 2017. This is a totally family-friendly event! There will be a raffle with some great prizes, so it promises to be a fun night.

The Snow Barn is also allowing us to do a bake sale (I know my kids will be happy to get a treat after pizza!!). We are looking for people who can help man the table and/or send in baked goods. If you can't make the event, you can drop baked goods at school on Weds 12/14 or Thurs 12/15 and Jaime will pick them up and bring them to the Snow Barn. Please let me know if you can help with baked goods!! All are much appreciated. There is also a signup sheet at school by Lori's office (it's on the far left).

Hope to see many faces at the Snow Barn next week! It's a great way to get together while raising money that helps all Dover School kids be able to ski.

Important message from Jamie Alvarez.

West Dover will be hosting the Backcountry film festival on Thursday Dec 15th from 6 to 9 to raise money for the Dover Ski Program.
I am looking for parents that will help donate baked goods for the event. All proceeds will go to the Dover Ski Club.

This Friday there will be a club meeting after School Sing.
We need to talk about the Halloween Festival and Matt will come and talk to us about the winter program.
If you want to be involved and help run the winter program please try to come to this meeting. If you can't make it to the meeting, don't worry we will talk to all parents on the open house night next week.

Halloween Festival 
Friday October 28

5:30-8:00pm
This year, we have exciting new changes to our annual Halloween celebration!  Students, parents, grandparents and caregivers are all invited to the Dover School for an evening of fun, food, and laughter!  We will start out in the school parking lot for our beloved “Trunk or Treat”.  Children and parents alike are encouraged to dress up in your best Halloween costume while you go from car to car collecting treats!  This year we are having a real-life CLUE game during this event so be sure to spend some time talking to your neighbors and looking for clues!  Show your Halloween Spirit by decorating your vehicle or trunk!  Prizes will be awarded for the following categories this year:
Best Dressed vehicle (or trunk)                    Prettiest Costume
Funniest Costume                                           Spookiest Costume
Most Creative Costume                                  Best Dressed Visitor (new this year!)
Best Over-All Costume- EVERYONE gets to vote on this one so be on the lookout for your favorite!

After the Trunk or Treat event, we are keeping the party going inside!  Join us for a neighborhood Pot Luck Supper of finger foods and fall treats!  We will be serving warm apple cider as well.  In this packet please find the sign-up sheet and tell us what you would like to bring!  There will be fun games and crafts going on to keep the kids busy while the parents take it all in.  Please bring in your carved pumpkins for us to light up the walkways with your works of art!  Also new this year, we will have a cool picture station where you get to make memories in your amazing costumes in front of our “green screen”.  We can then super-impose spooky backgrounds for that perfect Halloween look!  There will be a small fee for the pictures and proceeds will go to the Dover School Club.  If you would like to help with the games, crafts, photos or the cleanup, please contact us at: club@doverschool.net.

Hello new school year!

A new school sing coffee list will be outside of Lori's office today where you can sign up to bring in some goodies for the school sing coffee on Friday's.

We need coffee so if you would like to donate coffee bring it to Bodil Morse or drop it off at
Lori's office.

Next week a flyer with a little information about the Dover School Club will come home with your child home. You can fill out your email address and return it to us if you want us to email you information about what we do, when we do it, how you can help and also email us with question or ideas and suggestions. Maybe you want to help, please email us or come talk to us.
If you have givin us your email in the passed please give it to us again because we are starting a new list this year.

We meet after school sing on Friday's, if anyone want to join us but we are planning on trying to meet once a month in the evening and information about that will be sent out to you.

Halloween it's the first event we have coming up to be planned.

The Winter program is over for this season!

A big thank you to all you parents that have helped with chaperoning, ski snack and so much more!

Thank you also to our school chef Bobby for making delicious hot cocoa and thank you to Dave our maintenance guy who also helped out and chaperoned.

A crazy winter season but we were lucky with some great Thursday afternoons.

100th day of school.


On the 100th day of school the children in Kindergarten, 1st grade and 2nd grade brought 
in their 100th day projects.
They did a fantastisc job, the projects were wonderful, smart, cute, creative, colorful and interesting!

Winter program

The Dover School 2016 winter sports program at Mount Snow begins Thursday January 7, 2016 for 8 weeks. Please make sure to send your child(ren) with a coat, snow pants, gloves/mittens, neck warmers & a  helmet. If you need a helmet, please contact the school.

Dover School will bus skiers/snowboarders to Mount Snow Discovery Center at 11:45am after lunch. Skis and snowboards are not allowed on the bus. Equipment may be left at the front of the school in the morning. One of the chaperones will take it to the mountain ahead of time. Students should bring their winter clothing & ski or snowboard boots with them on the bus. A list of necessary items was included on the Mount Snow Program Check List page you received when you signed up.

Parent volunteers meet students each week to assist them with getting their gear on & picking up rental equipment, if needed. Students then head out to the Discovery Center to meet their instructors for their weekly clinic from 12.30-2:00.

The 5 and 6 year old will after their clinic at 2pm need to be picked up and signed out at the Discovery Center.

After the clinic, all  the students 7 year old and up and volunteers meet at the Main Base Lodge for hot chocolate & snacks, and then gather in groups led by the parent volunteers for an afternoon of free ski.

Students should be picked up at Mount Snow at 3:45pm. There is no bus service home. Ski lifts close at 4:00pm. It is required that all students check in with parent volunteers prior to the lessons, then at the Main Base Lodge for chaperoned skiing, and at the end of the day.

All students must have their pass from Mount Snow in order to participate.
